For a brand known for oversize cast pieces on delicate chains, I was surprised to see the new collection from Kimberly Baker Jewelry not looking anything as such. Bright colors, bangles, chunky necklaces! I admit initially wondering what was Kim thinking, but once I started trying stuff on and loved this oversized blue/brushed bronze bangle I knew she was onto something. And I felt so psyched for her for having the guts to go in a completely different direction and in the end creating a totally different kind of signature piece.
This is a great example that a brand need not always stick to what they are known for…more important is staying true to the creative vision for what feels right at the moment. AND this is what keeps me excited to see what’s next from my favorite designers, to see their take on where design is headed.
